Frank P. Stanek

Frank P. Stanek was appointed President, International Business Development for Universal Parks & Resorts in April 1995. Mr. Stanek is active in directing the development and expansion of new international entertainment opportunities for the Universal Parks & Resorts group of Vivendi Universal. He has initiated the development of Universal Studios Japan in Osaka and the acquisition of Universal’s Port Aventura in Barcelona, Spain. He has managed Universal’s foray into China, initiating Universal Studios Shanghai, and is currently active in pursuit of new opportunities for Universal worldwide. Mr. Stanek has been involved in the leisure/entertainment industry for 40 years, primarily focusing on international development and working extensively in Asia and Europe. Having joined Universal Studios (formerly MCA INC.) in April 1988 as Executive Vice President, MCA Enterprises International he was subsequently promoted to President, MCA Enterprises International. He formerly served as Vice President, Corporate Planning for the Walt Disney Company. In his 25 years with the Disney organization, he was actively involved in all aspects of new business and project development for the company, including Walt Disney World & Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. He was responsible for the planning, development and implementation of Tokyo Disneyland and spearheaded the development strategy, site selection and initiation of Disneyland Paris. Mr. Stanek serves as a director on a number of Universal Studios joint-venture boards. He is a director of the United States-Japan Bridging Foundation, a commissioner of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission, and a director of CULCON, all of which operate under the auspices of the United States State Department. Mr. Stanek is on the Executive Committee of the Asia Society Southern California. Mr. Stanek is an Honorary Member and former Trustee of the Urban Land Institute and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Hollywood Entertainment Museum. Additionally, he is Vice President and Director of the Ryman-Carroll Foundation and is founding Chairman of the Business First Board of California State University, Fullerton. He and his wife, Irene, reside in Southern California.
