| BMP has wanted to reward Portugal?s commitment with the Exhibition by celebrating ?Portugal?s Day? on Thursday, October 23rd. Portugal?s participation at BMP has been increasing year after year and at BMP 2003, almost one fourth of the Professional Hall is taken by Portuguese companies and institutions like Sonae, MultiDevelopment Corporation, Ambelis, Getecno, or the City of Lisbon which has a super stand (500 square meters). Sintra, the most tourist city in Portugal, will be exhibiting for the first time. And the North of Portugal (with a 240 sq.m. stand) will be represented by the cities of Porto, Maia, Gondomar, Valongo, Póvoa de Varzim, Bragança, Vila Real, and Chaves. The North of Portugal is carrying out a very intense development activity, where four major projects stand out: Oporto?s city center redevelopment, the construction of Maia?s ?Parque Maior?, the construction of the Industrial Area ?Campo em Valongo? and the construction of the thematic eco-park of Bragança.
The City of Lisbon will be a BMP sponsor for second year in a row, financing the Symposium?s luncheon where Jean Nouvel will be the Keynote Speaker. The world famous architect is taking part in the restoration of Lisbon?s historic center.
