Mr. Gorman is Senior Director in KPMG Corporate Finance.
He specialises in the real estate sector, advising occupiers, investors and public sector agencies on structuring, financing and implementing major projects. He has more than 20 years experience in real estate market allowing him to gain a thorough knowledge of the sector and its principle players. Prior to joining KPMG in 2003 Derek was the Managing Director of Chesterton Strategic Services and prior to that spent six years with Price Waterhouse in its corporate finance function.
Lead financial advisor to the British Racing Drivers Club on the procurement of a development partner to redevelop and operate its 800 acres Silverstone site. The role included structuring advice on the most appropriate joint venture, procurement of an appropriate partner and negotiation of the contract terms.
Lead financial advisor to the Welsh Development Agency on structuring the Welsh Investment Strategic Partnership to support its major property development and regeneration programmes. The project will create a £200M development fund to support property development projects that encourage economic development and job creation in Wales. KPMG advised WDA on the financial structuring of the transaction, procurement of the development partner and negotiating the contract.
Derek was formerly a Director and Board Member of Exchequer Partnership, a special purpose company formed between Chesterton, Bovis Lend Lease and Stanhope to redevelop HM Treasury’s 1M sq ft of office accommodation in Whitehall. The project was carried out under the Governments Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and provided a 35 year concession to Exchequer Partnership to refurbish and operate in excess of 1M sq ft of office accommodation.
