João Pessoa e Costa is 48 years old and is currently the chairman of AMBELIS, the Agency for the Economic Modernization of Lisbon, as well as being municipal councillor in Lisbon, elected for the PSD (Social Democratic Party).
He trained in law and is a graduate of the IESE in Madrid, where his specialization was the property sector.
In recent years, he has held the posts of Secretary-General of the Portuguese Valuation Association and Director of Services at AICE (the Association of Construction Industrialists). He was also a member of Lisbon Municipal Assembly’s Urban Development, Roads and Traffic Committee. In addition, he is a member of the board of Vortal, S.A., and is a member of the supervisory committee of the Portuguese Construction Law Association, and the Portuguese League of Basketball Clubs’ supervisory committee.
He has participated in and spoken at numerous Portuguese and foreign conferences, and has published several articles in various newspapers and magazines.
He lives in Lisbon, has two children, and regularly plays tennis and football.
