Paul is responsible for the overall direction of property research within Prudential Property Investment Managers Ltd (PruPIM), he is a Board Director and a member of the Executive Management Team of the company. Paul joined Prudential in 1987 becoming Head of Property Research in 1990. In recent years, Paul has been a strong campaigner to remove the obstacles to the creation of a property index-based derivatives market in the UK.
He has a first class honours degree from the University of St Andrews and a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, both in Geography. In 1992, he became an Associate of the Institute of Investment Management and Research (now incorporated into UK SIP, affiliated to the CFA) and is a Visiting Professor with the Centre for Estate Management at Oxford Brookes University.
Paul is currently Chariman of the Investment Property Forum (IPF) and a member of both is IPF Management Board and the IPF Research Committee. Paul is Honorary President and a Fellow of the Society of Property Researchers (SPR) and has worked with SPR for many years both as a Committee member and, for a period of three years, as its Chairman. He has recently become a non-executive director of IPD Holdings Limited and has been invited to lead the Property Workstream of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change.
Paul is also active in promoting property derivatives and in developing ideas of socially responsible property investment. In June 2003 Paul was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to the property industry.
Paul is married with two children. His passions outside work include; playing guitar, modern literature, supporting his hometown team, Middlesbrough FC, and spending time with his family.
