Juan Palomar is an architect and a great admirer of the works by Ignacio Díaz Morales and Andrés Casillas, he was born in Guadalajara in 1956, where he has developed most of his works. During 1976 and 1977 he studied in France and has been a lecturer at the Taller de Composition at the Iteso School of Architecture since 1983 where he graduated from in 1980. He has also been involved in journalism since 1985 and currently publishes two weekly columns, La ciudad y los días and Diario de un espectador in the newspaper El Informador.
He was Chairman from 1988 till 2001 of the Luis Barragán A.C. Tapatía Foundation of Architecture, an association involved in the preservation of national heritage of the region and the estate of Luis Barragán. He has authored essays and translations in Vuelta, El Paseante, Artes de México, Arquitectura, La Jornada semanal and other publications. He is the co-author of Jalisco Tierra del Tequila published by Artes de México and Luis Barragán, edited by Reverté Editors, as well as being the co-author of Urban art in Guadalajara and published by El Informador.
He has held conferences in many native cities as well as abroad. His architectural work has been illustrated in various magazines and publications. He was the director of research into aesthetics to the Secretary of Culture from 1993 till 1995, Director of Urban Planning for the Zapopan County Council from 1995 till 1998. He is in the Board of directors at Iteso A.C. National Council of Arts and Literature, President of the French Aliance of Guadalajara and Vocal executive of the Commision of Urban Planning for the Guadalajara County Council.
Lately he has been involved in various projects such as the National Library of José Vasconcelos in Mexico City and a specialist school group in Guadalajara, both of which are in collaboration with the Architect Alberto Kalach. He recently finished the restoration and adaptation of the Farah House and the Old Station in Chapala and is currently working on diverse projects around Mexico City, Guadalajara and other cities including the Arcediano Park Programme.
