Wladyslaw Jan Brzeski

A real property economist with over 25-years’ experience, Dr. Brzeski was educated in Poland, Canada and Sweden (doctorate). As an associate professor in real property economics and finance in Sweden, he was invited to work on Polish reforms in 1989 by Deputy Prime Minister Leszek Balcerowicz, with whom he collaborated in 1990-91 and again in 1997-2000. He was involved in the creation of the property professions of appraisers, brokers and property managers – he holds all three licenses and is also a property market counsellor. Dr. Brzeski dealt with municipal real property issues as deputy mayor of Kraków in 1992-94. In order to promote real property sector reforms he initiated creation of the Mortgage Credit Foundation and the Cracow Real Estate Institute. He has lectured at the Warsaw School of Economics, the Cracow Academy of Economics and the Jagiellonian University, as well as served as advisor in other transition countries, including Lithuania where he coordinated the development of a national housing strategy.

Dr. Brzeski collaborates with international institutions in the area of real property, housing and urban development, and has participated in numerous conferences and publications, such as preparation of the textbooks for real property agents and brokers and the textbook for property managers. Between 2003 and 2006 he worked at the World Bank. He is a cofounder of the European Property Institute (2006).
