João Crestana, age 53, Production Engineer by Escola Politécnica da USP Universidade de São Paulo (The São Paulo University Politechnical School), Master degree (MS) in Industrial Engineering by Stanford University, Califórnia, USA. Owner of Torrear Incorporações e Planejamento Imobiliário Ltda, a real estate planning and development company.
Past experience in the planning and financial markets. Executive and past consultant for important multi national companies and also for some important Brazilian companies. Since 1985 is in the real estate market. As a developer, João Crestana was directly or indirectly responsable for planning, developing or buiding up to 100,000 square meters of residential or office buildings.
Member of Secovi, the most important South American real estate association. Founded in 1946, represents more than 13,000 real estate companies in the state of São Paulo since 1985. Past Secovi Director of Real Estate Operation (2000 – 2004). Past Secovi Vice President (2005 – 2007). Current Secovi President (2007 – 2009), National President of the Real Estate Industry Commission, a division of Brazilian Chamber or Construction Industry since February of 2007, actual Member of Febraban´s Board Trustees.
As the Chairman of the Real Estate Industry Commission, he set affordable housing as a priority. His goal is to provide the federal government with support to develop a project for a permanent and sustainable public policy for social housing for low income families.
João Crestana defends the free enterprise, free competition in the market, house opportunities for everyone and less bureaucracy.
