Jürgen Bruns-Berentelg has been CEO of Hamburg city state (Germany) owned HafenCity Hamburg GmbH since 2003 and in that position he is responsible for the development management of one of Europe’s most important inner city and urban waterfront development projects. Previously, he was member of the board of a listed major real estate company headquartered in Hamburg and he worked as managing director Germany for New York based real estate developer Tishman Speyer in Berlin, among others, on Potsdamer Platz Sony Center project. He also worked in the early nineties for a major British real estate consultancy firm. He graduated as geographer, biologist and real estate economist. He attended universities in Germany and the Netherlands and an American high school.
He is co-editor of the Journal of Urban Regeneration and Renewal (London) and is lecturing and writing intensively on a number of aspects of large scale urban developments projects, e. g. risk structures, collective goods aspects, market development and how to plan urbanity.
