Struan Robertson is a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and Head of Asian Real Estate Investment Banking. Based in Tokyo since the end of 2000, Struan has fourteen years of investment banking experience in North America, Europe and Asia. Struan spent the 1990’s in Europe with a focus on Continental real estate and led a wide variety of transactions including IPOs, spin-offs, complex restructurings, hostile bid defense, takeovers, securitizations, and convertible bond financings for European clients with property and lodging interests.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley Realty, Struan worked for Morgan Stanley in the Mortgage Finance and Corporate Restructurings Groups in New York. In 1990 he joined the Firm's European Real Estate Group in London. In 1991 Struan moved to Prague to become Financial Director of the Czech entertainment company Bonton and came back to investment banking in 1992 advising clients on distressed debt investments as well as property corporate finance. Struan graduated from Yale University with a BA in History.
