Eduardo Fernández-Cuesta joined Richard Ellis in 1989, commencing the first stage of his professional career in the Investment and Development Department. In 1994, he was appointed Managing Director of Richard Ellis Residential, S.A. and was responsible for launching the new company in Spain.
Coinciding with the merger in May 1998 of CB Commercial and Richard Ellis International, Mr. Fernández-Cuesta was appointed Vice President and Managing Director of the company in Spain, joining Richard Ellis Residential and Richard Ellis, S.A. to become the new CB Richard Ellis Spain, S.A.
In 2001, Eduardo Fernández-Cuesta was appointed member of the CB Richard Ellis EMEA Executive Committee and, in 2002, was appointed President of the Spanish business.
In 2003, at the time of the merger between CB Richard Ellis and Insignia, Fernández-Cuesta was provisionally appointed co-Chairman of EMEA with responsibility for Continental Europe.
During his ten years at the helm of the company, Fernández-Cuesta has encouraged expansion, both geographically and through the introduction of new business lines and has been involved in some of the most significant real estate transactions completed in Spain. During this period, the company has also acquired Hines Gestión Inmobiliaria (2004) and FM Arquitectos (2007).
Mr. Fernández-Cuesta has a Degree in Law from the University of Madrid and a Master in Business Administration from the Instituto de Empresa of Madrid. He is a Qualified Real Estate Agent with a diploma from the Ministry of Industry and Development and is also a Member of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). In addition, he has attended two courses organized by Harvard Business School – “Leading Professional Services Firms” (1 week) and “Advanced Management Program” (2 months)
