The property investment scene in Europe is in a state of flux. Following the creation of French real estate investment trusts (REITs) three years ago, REITs are set to come on stream in the United Kingdom and Germany during 2006. With pressure to introduce REITs mounting in Italy and Spain as well change cannot be far off in those countries.
The pace of changing is hotting up with most of the major European economies now firmly committed to the introduction of REITs that, collectively, are likely to attract hundreds of billions of dollars of investments over the next few years. The conference organized by the RICS at the BMP’s Symposium - to take place on November 8th - will provide updates on the changing property investment scene in the leading European economies focusing not only on REITs but also at the rapidly developing market in property derivatives.
