"MORE INTERNATIONALIZATION, PROFESSIONAL VISITORS AND GENERAL ATTENDANCE THAN EVER”
Enrique Lacalle, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Real Estate Show and Symposium Barcelona Meeting Point, organized by El Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, whose Executive President is Manuel Royes, considers that the eleventh edition of BMP, that closes its doors today, “has turned out beyond all expectations, and confirmed it as the great international and national Real Estate meeting in Autumn”. BMP has represented a good sales’ thrust for our exhibitors at a time when the industry most needed it. The choice of Brazil as the invited country will bring together many more Brazilians next year. With BMP we may say that there has been no crisis.
Figures are spectacular:
SYMPOSIUM FIGURES
• Symposium Participants 2,465 • Speakers 135 • Symposium Sessions 46
EXHIBITION HALL FIGURES
• Professional visitors 22,000 (+10% than in 2006) • Professional visitors and General Attendance 200,523 • Exhibiting companies 652 • Participating companies 8,715 (+19% than in 2006) • National companies 6,210 • International companies 2,505 (+23% than in 2006) • Exhibiting countries 23 • Participating countries 66 • Registered national journalists 540 • Registered international journalists 191
Enrique Lacalle says the BMP’2007 figures confirm the exhibition, which has occupied halls number 1, 2, 4 and 8 with more square meters and exhibitors than ever, as the first Real Estate Exhibition in Spain, the only professional and international one and a point of reference in the European real estate industry, and confirm the slogan that says: “Visiting BMP in the Autumn is a must in the real estate industry.”
It should be pointed out that 60% of the BMP’2008 exhibition area is already reserved, as happened last year, with new space reservations for international cities and companies for 2008.
Enrique Lacalle points out that the 12th edition of BMP will take place from the 4th to the 9th November, 2008 at the Halls number 1, 2, 4 and 8.
Although it is very difficult to make an exact calculation, in the duration of BMP’2007 “the estimate turnover of the real estate deals carried out by the exhibitors between the General Attendance and the Professional exhibition may exceed the 5,000 million euros, to be specified in the next months with a great growth in the international real estate transactions, specially Brazil”.
Lastly, Enrique Lacalle would like to highlight several aspects of BMP’2007:
• First, the overall satisfaction of exhibitors, professionals, Symposium attendees, and national and international attendance. • Second, BMP’2007 has contributed to the hotel booking in the city as well as the Boat Show, due to its both national and international attendance, which created business for the city of Barcelona in all industries: restaurants, commerce, leisure, etc. • Third, the high design and quality level of the stands, being the Exhibition with highest investment in stand construction. • Fourth, the great level of parallel activities and events organized around BMP 2006 (more than a 150). • Fifth, its international profile with 50% of the occupancy being international companies in the Professional Show. • Sixth, the large attendance of local, autonomic and state professionals and institutions, national and international. One more year, Portugal has been the first country, followed by Poland, the USA and the UK. • Seventh, the incorporation of new countries and companies of those ones, such as Bulgaria, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, Norway, Lebanon, Algeria, and Ghana. • Eighth, the success of the “Live & Invest in Brazil” initiative, with an area of 4,000 square meters, which, up to date, is Brazil’s largest real estate exhibition carried out outside its frontiers.
It has to be pointed out the presence of the national, autonomic, and international personalities in the exhibition as:

Mr. Enrique Lacalle would like to highlight that “BARCELONA MEETING POINT IS THE SHOW OF THE DREAMS”, since buying an apartment is one of the main events in the life of a family. “Barcelona Meeting Point 2007 has fulfilled all the expectations consolidating itself as a leading exhibition in the industry”, said Lacalle.
El Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Barcelona—whose Executive President is Manuel Royes, President of B.M.P.S.A and Special Delegate of the State at the CZFB—at present time organizes the Meeting Point real estate shows, BMP, Central Europe Meeting Point whose third edition will take place in April 22-24, 2008, and Bucharest Meeting Point, to be held on May 22-24, 2008 in Bucharest, as well as the International Logistics Show to take place on June 3-6, 2008.
“The Consorcio de la Zona Frana is proud to have contributed to the creation of BMP, an exhibition that is a real active for Barcelona’s international promotion. It must be reckoned that BMP has been able to see further than just supply and demand and that in this eleven years of life it has offered a space for reflection about the real estate development business, about the environmental building trends, about the need for social housing and the restoration of urban areas. In this sense, Barcelona Meeting Point offers a space to live in and a space where we can all reflect on”, has said Manuel Royes.
Finally, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of BMP thanks all the authorities, national and international associations that collaborate with the Symposium, speakers, sponsors and very specially to the main ones, La Caixa, La Vanguardia, La Razón, El Economista, TV3, FBEX and CB Richard Ellis, as well as to the rest of sponsors such as Morgan Stanley, Reyal Urbis, Grupo Sánchez, Credit Services, Porcelanosa, Copcisapromo, Iris Plus International, Teyco, Fotocasa.es – Anuntis Segunda Mano, Endesa, Espais, Grupo Trusam, Ingreen, Cushman & Wakefield, Jordà & Guasch, Home Center & Cafe, Restaura, Hercesa Inmobiliaria, Chamartín Inmobiliaria, Institut Català del Sòl, Uponor, Grupo Alcaraz, Deloitte, Magma Turismo, Bovis Lend Lease, LKS, Gerens Management Group, LV Salamanca Ingenieros, Iberdrola Inmobiliaria, Argos, Peugeot Barcelonesa, Automóviles Fernández and Europe Real Estate, exhibitors, national and international participants, media and the City of Barcelona for their collaboration and enthusiastic participation, that has made this 11th edition of the International Real Estate Show and Symposium be possible, that will keep on growing next year.
