Enrique Lacalle, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Real Estate Show and Symposium Barcelona Meeting Point, organized by El Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, considers that the thirteenth edition of BMP “has been a success in attendance and sales made, surpassing all expectations, which demonstrates that the real estate industry still arises interest and that there is a need to buy”.
Despite the times, Barcelona Meeting Point has proven to be useful and profitable for those participating in it, the reason why it will take place again in the next Autumn, making Barcelona once again Europe’s real estate capital.
The participating figures are impressive:
SYMPOSIUM FIGURES
• Symposium Participants 2,470
• Speakers 116
• Symposium sessions 44
EXHIBITION FIGURES
• Professional visitors 22,105
• Professional visitors and General Attendance +150,000

• Spanish companies 60%
• International companies 40%
• Exhibiting countries 25

Enrique Lacalle says the BMP’2009 figures confirm the exhibition, which has occupied halls number 5 and 8 as the first Real Estate Exhibition in Spain, the only professional and international one and a point of reference in the European real estate industry, and confirm the slogan that says: “BMP has proved to be the meeting place for the European real estate industry and more necessary than ever”.
Enrique Lacalle points out that the 14th edition of BMP will take place from the 19th to the 24th of October, 2010. Due to the success of the countries coming from the Americas in BMP, a novelty of the 14th edition will be the creation of a new great area called Americas Meeting Point that will concentrate the real estate offer from North, Central and Latin America.
Although it is very difficult to make an exact calculation, in the duration of BMP’2009 “the estimate turnover of the real estate deals carried out by the exhibitors between the General Attendance and the Professional exhibition may exceed the 2,100 million euros, to be specified in the next months with a great growth in the international real estate transactions, specially the Arab countries, Russia, Panama and Brazil”.
Lastly, Enrique Lacalle would like to highlight several aspects of BMP’2009:
• First, the overall satisfaction of exhibitors, professionals, Symposium attendees, and national and international attendance.
• Second, BMP’2009 has contributed to the hotel booking in the city due to its both national and international attendance, which created business for the city of Barcelona in all industries: restaurants, trade, leisure, etc.
• Third, the high design and quality level of the stands, being the Exhibition with highest investment in stand construction.
• Fourth, the great level of parallel activities and events organized around BMP 2009 (more than a 150).
• Fifth, its international profile with 85% of the occupancy being international companies in the Professional Show.
• Sixth, the large attendance of local, autonomic and state professionals and institutions, national and international.
• Seventh, the success of the 1st Euro-Arab Real Estate Conference, the ULI Urban Investment Network Summit “Cities and Real Estate” and the Year of Russia.
The exhibition was attended by such renowned national, autonomic, and international personalities as:

Mr. Enrique Lacalle would like to highlight that “BARCELONA MEETING POINT IS STILL THE SHOW OF THE DREAMS”, since buying a property is one of the main events in the life of a family. “Barcelona Meeting Point 2009 has fulfilled all expectations, consolidating itself as a leading exhibition in the industry”, said Lacalle.
El Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Barcelona—whose Executive President is Manuel Royes, Special Delegate of the State at the CZFB—at present time organizes the Meeting Point real estate shows, Low Cost Madrid, to take place on March 12th -14th, 2010, Low Cost Barcelona to be held on April 25th – 27th, 2010, the International Logistics Show, whose next edition will be on May 25th – 28th, 2010, and the International Air Meeting.
Manuel Royes considers that “this year’s Symposium has been, probably, the most crucial one up to this date” because the real estate industry need reflection and debate on the crisis and how to overcome it. “In difficult times, there is a risk of thinking only in the short term. Short term thinking may lead to a recovery, but it may be weak and temporary. Only a medium and long term vision and learning from past errors guarantees a lasting recovery”, he said.
Finally, the Chairman of BMP would like to thank all the authorities, national and international associations that collaborate in the Symposium, speakers, sponsors, very specially the Leading Sponsor, “la Caixa”, the main sponsors, La Vanguardia, La Razón, El Economista, and the rest of sponsors such as Endesa, Incasòl, Departament de Medi Ambient i Habitatge, Adigsa, Comsa Emte, Visoren, Nespresso and Damm Inedit,
Por último, el President del Comité Organizador de BMP da las gracias a todas las autoridades, asociaciones nacionales e internacionales que colaboran en el Symposium, ponentes, patrocinadores, muy especialmente al Patrocinador de Honor, “la Caixa”, los principales, La Vanguardia, La Razón, El Economista, y al resto de patrocinadores como son Endesa, Incasòl, Departament de Medi Ambient i Habitatge, Adigsa, Comsa Emte, Visoren, Nespresso y Damm Inedit, exhibitors, national and international participants, media and the City of Barcelona for their collaboration and enthusiastic participation, that has made this 13th edition of Barcelona Meeting Point International Real Estate Show and Symposium be possible.
