Joaquín Rivero was born in Jerez (Cadiz) in 1944. He started working in his father?s local construction company and, by 1978, he already had his own construction company, Riobra, until 1983 when he changed to the real estate industry and founded Marble Centre, Benalmar or Inmonet. In 1987, he merged all the companies under the trademark Patrón Inmobiliario. Ten years late, he entered Bami as President. In 2000, he bought Zabálburu, in 2002, from Bami, he purchased a 23% of Metrovacesa becoming its Chairman. With more than one million square meters of leasing space in assets and approximately 6,000 housing units for sale, Metrovacesa is the leading company in the real estate industry in Spain and in Europe. In 2005, Metrovacesa bought from AGF and Azur-GMF a 69% participation of Gecina, the largest real estate French company with a gross value of 8,100 million euros in December 2004. This purchase meant the creation of the leading real estate group in the Continental Europe, with a 13,000 million euros worth of actives and a strong presence in the Paris and Madrid markets.
